Considering that I'm a big sports fan, I hear sports commentators throw the word "hero" around quite a lot when referring to great athletes. I have to admit that it was something special to see Michael Jordan play basketball, you couldn't ask for any better "storybook" endings than he had. As quarterback for the New England Patriots, Tom Brady has provided us all with some inspirational moments. Payton Manning is also another great athlete that has been called a hero by some. There are many examples of greatness from the athletic world but I wouldn't call any of them a "hero" for what they've accomplished playing some game.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit with a real hero. This man has spent most of his adult life in the army,in the infantry, and has been to the middle east on several different occasions to fight for our country. Several members of his family have served and he also has a son in the infantry who has been to Iraq and Afganistan. While I enjoy watching sports, athletes are not hero's in my book. The soldier I had the honor of visiting with is the real deal. I appreciate the folks who will voluntarily put their lives on the line for our country, there have been a lot of brave folks who've bled and died so we might have what we have today.
The soldier and I talked about several things during the course of our conversation, but what really caught my interest is when he talked about his re-enlistment and his thoughts about the oath he had to take to re-enlist. First of all, for you non-military types that might be reading this, each member of our armed forces has to take an oath that is very similar in wording to what the president takes on inauguration day. This particular soldier told me that he had to really think about that oath and to whether or not he was taking an oath to the country he wanted to defend. Ultimately he did take the oath and is now serving another term of enlistment. Thank God for men and women such as him and with guys like this in our military I wouldn't want to be on the other side!
I must say that I have a hard time recognizing our country today as compared with what it was when I was a child. This country used to stand for things like God,family, and hard work. I don't care what you liberals out there say; our country was founded on Christian principles. The writing of our founders and indeed the constitution gives proof to my statement and any denial of that fact is a lie.
When I was a child just about all my friends had their moms and dads at home to raise them. Getting a divorce was tough and was discouraged by society and would get you shunned by your friends. Then our country allowed people to get something called a "no-fault" divorce, and the divorce rate skyrocketed. We bemoan the state of our country but lots of our people have no more morals than the animals. God bless you liberals with your pointy little heads who've destroyed our country from within, with your loose morals and shunning of decency and honor. God bless the stupid people of this country who have allowed you liberals to have control of our media, schools, courts and many of our public institutions. Look at the mess we are in now, we are about to lose our country and we have stupidity, apathy, and liberalism to thank for it. (stupidity and liberalism are one and the same)
We feed millions of able-bodied people who are otherwise healthy and able to work, yet we wonder why our taxes are so high. We elected a so-called conservative leader (G dub) and a big majority to both houses of our congress and yet we still spent 100's of billions of dollars feeding lazy, worthless people and 23 million illegal Mexicans! What the heck are we (the people) supposed to do when the conservatives act like liberals and the liberals are really communist? This all ties back in with soldier I got to talk to and why he questioned the validity of the oath he took. This soldier almost didn't sign back up and I wouldn't have blamed him at all if he'd just packed up and came home! I'd hate to put my life on the line for a bunch of people who would spit on me and wouldn't appreciate the sacrifice me and my family had to make. I'd hate to be a soldier in BO's army because I know that it would increase my chances of dying. If you watch the news at all just look at the rules of engagement "Barry" has put in place, it's ludicrous!
I respect the office of the President of the United States, I just don't have ANY respect for Barrack Hussein Obama. Barry is an empty suit with a smooth voice who has never ever had a real job in his life. He's proven over and over again not to be a good speaker if he doesn't have his teleprompter, leading me to wonder who really is running our country. If you voted for this "wanna be dictator" you are not someone I want to be friends with and I think you didn't think things through very well. I will be the first to admit that John McCain wasn't much better, but he was still better. I would have loved to have had Alan Keys be on the republican ticket; I voted for Dr. Keys in the primaries because he is a real conservative. You "so-called" conservatives out there who voted for John McCain are the people that need to wake up and pay attention. John McCain is republican in name only, and he most defiantly is not a conservative. Mitt Romney would have been a far better nominee than McCain and would have torn Barry up in a head to head debate. You people that voted for JM listened to the media and voted for the wrong guy. Wake up and educate yourself and find out which candidates really stand for our conservative values. Quit letting the media tell you who to vote for and take some initiative and find out who best represents the idea of a strong, sovereign America.
I don't wish BO any harm at all, I just want him to go away and take Harry and Nancy and the rest of the wanna-be Politburo with him. I've said this in earlier post, I think this government we have in place now is the greatest threat to our national security since the revolutionary war with Great Britain. Barrack H. Obama and his merry band of communist are not worth nor worthy of one drop of blood spilled by our brave heroes who fight for this country and its safety. If the soldier I talked to the other night is reading this, I want to say thank you for doing what it is you do and for being who you are. BO will not be our president forever(I hope).
